FORTNITE CHALLENGE: An Epic Game for an Epic Workout

Bodies are meant to be in motion especially when you can make it fun. Engage with your kids to get them up and moving by relating to something they enjoy, hence FORTNITE style. Set up a boot camp style with a few different stations that alternate between an exercise on the Total Gym, a body weight exercise, cardio, and a dance move. The person on the Total Gym counts 10 reps while everyone else performs the other exercises chosen! Then you rotate to the next station until all are performed. Perform the warmup and cool down all together.

Drink This, Sweat Off That

Holiday weight gain is not just from cookies, treats, or eating too much! It’s also contributed to cocktails loaded up with extra sugars in the drink. If you’re mindful of what’s in the food and drinks you intake, you can prevent ingesting any extra - unneeded calories this season. You can have your booze and drink it too but with healthier options. This season, try making ‘healthier’ holiday cocktails that will keep you happy (cheers!) and focused on your health for the new year!

What is Gout and Who is Affected By It

Gout is typically referred to by medical doctors as a form of arthritis where patients experience pain and inflammation in the joints, typically in the big toe, but can appear elsewhere in the body such as fingers, knees and hips. An unhealthy diet triggers gout attacks, especially those diets that are loaded with alcohol, high fructose corn syrup, and processed foods, and too much purine rich foods such as organs and red meats, shellfish, anchovies, for example. Total Gym Addicts – Lisa’s Story

My name is Lisa Dyer. I’m a 51-year-old wife, mother, and teacher, living in Ashland, KY. As I entered my 40’s, that fast metabolism came to a screeching halt, and reality set in. I was no longer able to fit into my clothes, the scale was now hovering over a much higher number, and I was depressed and ashamed about how I had let myself get into this shape. I found a used Total Gym, and decided to put it in my bedroom where I would see it daily. I now look forward  to going home in the evenings, not to watch TV, but to work out on my Total Gym.

How to Stay Focused on Your Fitness Goals During the Season of Indulgence

It's that time of year where the holidays are upon us, the weather is cooler, and there is an increased amount of time spent with family and friends. However, this is also the time of the year where people unfortunately began to put their health & fitness on the backburner. With all of the traveling, Christmas shopping, and family gatherings occurring, people often feel justified in not making their health a priority and citing lack of time as the reason why they are committed to exercising or eating properly. As you may or may not know, November and December are notorious months for weight gain in the United States where a huge percentage of our population will increase their weight by 3 - 10 pounds.
