Talking Trends: What Really Moves the Needle for Your Health

trends you should have in your life

Every time we scroll, tune in, or flip through a magazine, we’re hit with a new “life-changing” trend. One day it’s cold plunging. The next it’s red-light therapy. Then it’s fasting, olive-oil shots, electrolyte powders, mushroom coffee, or the latest supplement that promises glowing skin, effortless weight loss, and boundless energy.

Trends are exciting. They’re enticing. They make us feel like perhaps this is the missing piece, the magic bullet we’ve been waiting for. And believe me—I’ve been in this field long enough to have seen dozens of these trends come and go. Some are helpful, some are harmless, and some are just very effective marketing.

What you do consistently—not occasionally—is what shapes your health.

Not the trend you try for a week.
Not the gadget you buy and forget about.
Not the one cold plunge you force yourself into because someone on Instagram swore it cured their fatigue.

Your real health is created by the quiet, unglamorous, deeply powerful habits that you commit to every single day.

The Basics Always Win

At the core of true, lasting wellness are the same pillars I’ve been teaching for decades:

  • What you eat
    • How well you digest
    • What you eliminate
    • How you sleep
    • How you manage stress
    • How consistently you move your body

These are not trendy. They’re not flashy. They don’t get you likes on social media.
But this is what changes your health.

You can cold plunge every morning, but if you’re grazing all day, eating the wrong foods for your system, or living on sugar and caffeine, that cold plunge will do absolutely nothing.

You can invest in the best red-light therapy device on the market, but if your sleep is chaotic and your digestion is sluggish, the light becomes nothing more than an expensive decoration.

You can sip mushroom coffee or add collagen to everything, but if your stress levels are through the roof and you never take a breath, those supplements are just a drop in the bucket.

Trends Aren’t Bad. They’re Just Not the Foundation.

I’m not against trends—some are actually wonderful tools.
Cold plunging can boost circulation and mood.
Red-light therapy can support cellular repair.
Fasting can reset your metabolic patterns.

But these tools only work when the foundation is already in place.

Think of trends like icing on the cake.

But you must have the cake first.

And that “cake” is your daily routine:
Choosing whole, clean, natural foods.
Prioritizing proper digestion.
Sleeping deeply and consistently.
Moving your body with intention.
Drinking enough clean water.
Finding moments of stillness to breathe.
Eliminating well every day.
Honoring your hormonal rhythm, your energy, and your unique body.

Trends cannot replace these things.
They cannot override poor habits.
They cannot “hack” your system if the system is overwhelmed or nutritionally confused.

Trends Are Also a Distraction

Let’s be honest. Trends make noise.
They grab your attention.
They make the wellness world feel exciting, almost theatrical.

But often, they distract you from the real work:
the steady, loving, intentional care your body desperately needs.

Trends also offer a voice to anyone who can market themselves well enough—whether or not they understand the body, biochemistry, digestion, or true wellness.

This is why I always urge my clients to stay rooted, stay wise, and stay grounded in what actually works.

Your Body Doesn’t Want Trends. It Wants Stability.

Your body thrives when you repeat the same nourishing actions day after day.
It wants rhythm, not chaos.
Consistency, not novelty.
Nature, not noise.
