Today’s blog is for my Total Gym Golfers. Master Trainer JayDee here with a dynamic exercise routine that will help you increase club head speed and start crushing your drives to the jaw-dropping dismay of all your golfing buddies. But first……
I hope this blog finds you and your loved ones healthy and peaceful during this weird, pandemic time. I have never been so grateful to have my own home gym. All I need is my Total Gym, my elliptical and I’m set. I’ve always said I can emulate any piece of equipment in any gym with one machine. Hence the perfect name - Total Gym.
In the golf swing, as with so many sports, the power comes from your legs. If you doubt me, try hitting a golf ball (or throwing a ball or a punch) with your legs together and see how far you can hit it. Next, all that power generated from your legs has to travel through a strong, stable core to get to the upper body to create maximum club head speed. So today’s workout will feature the legs and core. will also add one of my favorite Pilates exercise to increase your spinal mobility and upper body fluidity for added club head speed and to reduce back aches and pains often resulting from the rigorous torque of the golf swing.
If you’re like me, working the legs is not happy news. Most of my life, I have loathed leg day. Many of us would rather pump the guns and look good in our short sleeve shirts or sleeveless dresses. Heck, we can always cover up our twigs with pants. I’m sure you’re now comically picturing “that guy” in the gym with a jacked upper body and skinny little chicken legs. Don’t be that guy!
As usual, I have taken advantage of the incredible versatility of the Total Gym and created a dynamic, multi-tasking, super-set filled, time-saving workout. Here it is:

Golf and Social Distancing
We all have to be diligent but, in my opinion, golf is a great option during this social distancing time. You can play by yourself and get some well needed exercise and time outdoors. I would say, “a nice slice of sanity” but it’s golf we’re talking about, so never a given! A lot of golf courses have remained open and the PGA just announced it will be starting up on June 11th at The Colonial in Texas with no fans. But man, it will be so nice to see live sports on TV! Can I get an Amen?Training muscles for the perfect golf swing
My dad put a golf club in my hands at age 3 and I enjoyed a successful competitive run as an amateur. Today, I am passionate about combining my golf experience with my love and knowledge of fitness to help my fellow golfers.
